It's great.

Current playlist in albums below. I'm playing them an album at a time rather than using the random shuffling abomination.

Thea Gilmore -- Rules for jokers

Cradle of Filth -- Cruelty and the beast

Fawzy al-Aiedy -- Le Paris Baghdad

Foo Fighters -- One by one

Throwing Muses -- Throwing Muses (1986)

Maddy Prior -- Summer solstice

Ballboy -- Club anthems 2001

June Tabor -- Aqaba

Half Man Half Biscuit -- Some call it godcore

Cat Stevens -- Tea for the tillerman

A lot of my recent wanderings through music have been guided by the realisation that I don't really like most 'vocal stylings' (i.e. putting on a funny voice for singing). I suppose you can spot the obvious exception above, but you could argue that it's not vocal styling at all and Mr and Mrs Filth are using their normal screaming voices.

Here's a game to play for the music geeks among you:

Guess another five albums, you get a point for each one which is in my music collection. The winning person shall be the person that wins etc.

Must get round to buying something of theirs. I've heard the odd tune and laughed.

Just pick one by gpig (4.00 / 1) #3 Mon Jan 16, 2006 at 06:32:09 AM EST
They're pretty consistent. Usually present in the second hand section too, if you go to your local Independent Record Retailer (tm). I went to see them live once, cost 13 quids (more than I ever spent on one of their CDs) and it was dismal. They have quite a few scary-looking fans too, HMHB seem to be popular with bouncer types for reasons I can't fathom.

They're Wirral through and through by nebbish (4.00 / 1) #4 Mon Jan 16, 2006 at 06:47:26 AM EST
And the Wirral is full of nutters, hence the scary fans I reckon.

The Breeders - Pod
The Pixies - Doolittle
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
Leonard Cohen - Songs of Leonard Cohen

since I have some tracks off Nevermind, and a couple from Doolittle.

I probably should own all of these as they are a fine selection of albums, at least those I've listened to (all of them except The Breeders, which I will now just to try it).

Still, as the only entrant, you win!
